Roman Quarry

El Médol in an old roman stone quarry few kilometers north of Tarragona, near the Vía Augusta which connected Tarragona with Rome. The still impressive site has a special charm. Because of the humid microclimate in this artificial valley all is covered by tropical vegetation, different from the kind surrounding area.

In the center of the quarry rises a spectacular monolith called the "Needle of Médol" to a height from about 16 m.
